The chestnut is a medium heavy wood, it's texture is similar to oak. The chestnut was used for winestaves and the extraction of tannin. The chestnut drum shell weight is placed between maple drum shells and bubinga drum shells. The chestnut drum shell has a warmer sound and stronger bass timbers than the maple, but the same power. DIY drum building chestnut drum shell for snaredrum and toms.
